CULTIVATED, REFINED, AND ENDOWED WITH A CURIOUS SPIRIT, THE OWNER-DESIGNER OF CUISILAB, A DESIGN COMPANY THAT HE FOUNDED 14 YEARS AGO, LIKES THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE. BUT WHAT GETS HIM EXCITED? ANYTHING RELATED TO ARCHITECTURE, AND BEAUTIFUL OBJECTS.

The accomplishment you are most proud of? “Having obtained a balance between my professional and personal life.”
Something that most people don’t know about you? “I have a passion for tea, for its philosophy and its ritual. It completely mystifies my Italian friends who love their coffee”
Your favourite restaurant? “Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills in the Hudson Valley. The restaurant is located right on the farm of the same name and they serve only what they produce themselves.”
What do you recommend as a must try? “Everything. The menu changes with the seasons.”
Your favourite restaurant for a business lunch? “Tapéo, on Rue Villeray.”
A city that inspires you? “Milan, for its energy, creativity, and originality.”
What do you think distinguishes Quebec from the rest of the world? ” Quebecers are creative, spontaneous, and daring. I think it’s because we are open minded and live in a society that places very little importance on a hierarchy.”
A designer whose work you admire? “Dutch designer Marcel Wanders.”
The era, the movement, or the architectural style you prefer? “Tomorrow’s.”
The thing you simply can’t do without? “I’m not very attached to things.”
The ultimate in glamour is…“To not answer this sort of question!”
A book we are likely to find on your bedside table? “Usually something about architecture or design. Right now I’m reading Behind the Ceiling, a book about the work and approach of Marcel Wanders.”
An artist whose works impress you? “Richard Serra, a contemporary artist who creates monumental works that art lovers can actually walk inside of.” What era would you want to live in? “Tomorrow”
Your guilty pleasure? “Anything design.”
For you, the height of luxury is… “Making time for yourself.”
Your philosophy of life? “Always having projects, ideas, and being on the lookout. That’s ultimately what keeps us living.”
Three values that define you? “Generosity, respect, and tolerance.”
Your definition of happiness? “It is inseparable from the reality of what we are able to accomplish… Perfectionists are always unhappy.”
Something that drives you crazy? “Phony people.”
