Vail, Colorado is one of the most prestigious ski resorts in the world. It offers nearly 200 trails and a playground of over 5000 acres – talk about space! – and the high peaks offer magnificent views.
For regulars, Vail is synonymous with ultramodern facilities and cutting edge hotels. Add to this a lovely village atmosphere, mountains, countless restaurants, and exquisite cuisine. There are also bowls for experts, and those fond of carving the trails will need more than a week to discover all Vail has to offer.
When we hear Bernard Gendron, who has skied everywhere (in Europe, Japan, and South America) light up while speaking of Vail, we know this destination is magnificent. “True, I’ve been around the world, and when I go to Vail, I bubble with intensity,” says the businessman. “It’s surrounded by luxury properties, very posh, there’s no denying that. But everything is in good taste.” He hastens to add: “Vail exudes ‘holiday’ and a love of the mountains, in a village which is sublime. Add to this hill maintenance like nowhere else, and superb ski conditions. If you want an upscale environment for skiers of all abilities with a multitude of amenities, Vail is designed for you.” Among the wonders is a dinner at Game Creek, perched at an altitude of 3,527m, which begins with a night ascent by gondola, followed by a snow cat ride before arriving at a chalet where a five course European style menu will transport you to paradise.

Vail, which plays host to the 2015 Alpine World Championships, is also popular among the baby-boomer generation. Accessible by direct flight, Vail is a two-hour drive from Denver. The resort, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, includes four other neighboring areas: Back Bowls, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin. Among the qualities that experts agree make this region of Colorado so recognizable is the thick powder, due to the high altitude of the mountain range. Located near the desert, snow trails are dry, and conditions vary little throughout the day. Finally, that big star called the sun shines on this El Dorado 300 days a year. Happiness on holiday!
We wish to sincerely thank Voyages Gendron for their precious collaboration.
