He and his partner\u00a0from the comedy duo Les Grandes Gueules have set\u00a0records unsurpassed in the field of radio and collected\u00a0innumerable awards, including more than half dozen\u00a0Oliviers for humour. What is less known of Jos\u00e9 is his\u00a0longtime passion for driving. At age six, he was building\u00a0a cardboard car with cellophane windows and a\u00a0dashboard! Later, he constructed a steering wheel\u00a0from a toilet siphon to pilot his imaginary race car. As\u00a0a teenager, he earned his living chauffering luxury cars\u00a0for a businessman. No wonder then that he emerged\u00a0from his garage recently to host the TV series\u00a0\u2018L\u00e9gendes de la route\u2019 airing since last January on the\u00a0Historia network, where, he tells, with both hands on\u00a0the wheel and both cheeks on the seat, the evolution\u00a0of legendary car models is recounted.<\/p>\n<p>During the program, Jos\u00e9 takes the occasion to slide\u00a0behind the wheel of cars few ever get to drive. He also\u00a0learned much on the subject by coming into contact with\u00a0passionate collectors. But his passion didn\u2019t need these\u00a0inducements. Where in fact does it originate, this urge to\u00a0derive pleasure from driving? It\u2019s the same as sex-drive, or\u00a0surrendering to the delights of chocolate. It\u2019s a complex of\u00a0sensations that are felt. Jos\u00e9 loves the smell of leather, and\u00a0the oily odor that seeps into older vehicles. The sound of\u00a0the engine, of course.<\/p>\n<p>The intoxication of acceleration or\u00a0downshifting.\u00a0The almost carnal contact with the steering\u00a0wheel. The scenery that flies before the eyes. The body\u00a0leaning into the curves of the road&#8230; His most memorable \u2018drives\u2019 of the show? In other\u00a0words, his top 5 cars?
