Van Cleef & Arpels opens its latest flagship, located on Toronto’s prestigious Bloor Street. The 2,500 square-foot boutique marks a major milestone in the French Maison’s longstanding relationship with Canada, as it is the first Flagship Van Cleef & Arpels has opened in the country.
This enchanting boutique consists of two large retail floors, a private salon and a unique special events room. Two hand-crafted, French-made glass chandeliers illuminate the space, as well as intricately paneled walls. A private salon allows clients to discover the Maison’s creations in comfort and privacy. The events room consists of custom fabric walls depicting a floral motif and an elegant oval shaped Veronese style chandelier is encased by a gold leaf ceiling in the center of the space. Each of the rooms offers an intimate atmosphere and experience.
“We are delighted to enhance the elegant universe of our French Maison with our new boutique on Bloor Street, designed to evoke the warmth and elegance of a Parisian apartment,” says Helen King, President & CEO of Van Cleef & Arpels, Americas. “We look forward to further showcasing our iconic creations and rich heritage with Toronto’s sophisticated clientele.”
A distinctive aspect of the boutique is its Art Deco-inspired black and golden facade. Initially designed for a 1937 Van Cleef & Arpels Minaudière, the geometric and pyramidal pattern is inspired by Egyptian history reminiscent of Claire-voie. The façade spans the height of the boutique and is a first for the Maison in the Americas.
The boutique will showcase iconic and new creations alike, including the timeless Snowflake collection, alongside recent Perlée and Alhambra creations.
Inspired by the Maison’s flocon motif introduced in the 1940s, the Snowflake collection combines the luminosity of platinum and yellow gold with the sparkle of diamonds, selected according to the most stringent criteria.
An iconic aesthetic of Van Cleef & Arpels since 1968, the Alhambra motif draws inspiration from the four- leaf clover, celebrating luck through constantly reinvented jewelry and watchmaking creations. Guilloché rose gold combines with the dazzling nuances of carnelian to give rise to four new Alhambra creations. These pieces include a reversible ring that enchants the gaze with these materials, according to the wearer’s fancy. This new design reflects the tradition of versatility that is dear to the Maison and its distinctive emblem.
Born in 2008, the Perlée collection draws its golden beads from the Maison’s history. These precious spheres have gleamed in Van Cleef & Arpels’ creations since the 1920s, first to emphasize a design or border a stone before becoming a motif in their own right. With their wealth of styles and materials, the creations illustrate the expertise of the Maison’s savoir-faire in a light and joyful style.
In yellow, rose or white gold – combined with precious or ornamental stones, mother-of-pearl or coral – they lend their rounded forms and shimmering reflections to a variety of jewelry and watchmaking pieces with graphic, luminous silhouettes.
Founded at 22, Place Vendôme, Paris, in 1906, Van Cleef & Arpels came into being following Estelle Arpels’ marriage to Alfred Van Cleef in 1895. With a blend of inventiveness and poetry, Van Cleef & Arpels perpetuates a highly distinctive style. Its selection of exceptional gems that instill an emotion and the savoir-faire of its craftsmen have given birth to enchanting High Jewelry, Jewelry and Watchmaking collections. Whether inspired by nature, couture, dance, or imaginary worlds, the Maison opens the gate to a timeless universe of beauty and harmony.
