Those in love with design can only surrender to the playfulness, spirit and sometimes off-the-wall treasures found at contemporary design boutique Bonaldo. Louis Pauzé, owner of the Montreal flagship store, doesn’t follow the trend, only his heart … because life is too short to deprive yourself of the happiness of living well at home.
The accomplishment you are most proud of? To have realized the dreams that mattered most to me.
One thing that most people do not know about you? I am allergic to social events and networking activities whatsoever.
Your best table … and what one absolutely must taste there: Mine, for my Flemish beef stew or my salmon triad dish… And Ristorante Alla Borsa (in Valeggio sul Mincio, in the countryside of Verona) for Tortellini di Vallegio with butter and sage.
A business lunch is likely to find you…At Modavie (across the street) or at Le Hangar, and in summer, on the terrace of the Château Ramezay.
A city that inspires you… Bilbao. By capitalizing on its cultural facilities, it has seen a rebirth from its decline.
A trip of your dreams… One that I could share profoundly.
In your opinion, what distinguishes Quebec from the rest of the world? The essential living space that we enjoy, that allows us to reflect, to breathe freely, readily, in a unique socio-cultural context.
Designers who excite you: Denis Santachiara, and architect, Zaha Hadid.
Your shopping reccos? Stanbridge in Paris and Dirk Bikkembergs in Milan.
Your guilty pleasure… Random order.
For you, the height of luxury is… To do more with less.
Your philosophy of life? Don’t take things personally, keep your word, do your best, and above all, don’t assume.
Three values that define you? Integrity, loyalty and empathy.
A cause dear to your heart? People who have no opportunity in life.
Your definition of happiness? Recognition.
What irritates you? Pretence in any form.
