Tremblant Living

JOHANNE BOURQUE IS A TRUE GLOBE-TROTTER WHO TRAVELS OFTEN FOR BUSINESS AND FOR PLEASURE HER COMPANY, JARDIN DE VILLE, FOUNDED BY HER MOTHER IN 1956, HAS GROWN BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS IN RECENT YEARS. IN FACT THE COMPANY IS NOW INTERNATIONAL, WITH OUTLETS IN THE UNITED STATES (CHICAGO AND FORT MYERS) AND SWITZERLAND. SHE IS GUIDED BY HER HEAD AND BY HER HEART, AND SHE WAS PLEASED TO SHARE A FEW OF HER PASSIONS WITH US.

Your favourite restaurant?   “It’s hard to choose just one! There’s Le Mirazur in Menton on the Côte d’Azur, Vino Panino & Co in San Remo, Italy, the Kinzie Chophouse in Chicago, the Laurie Raphaël in Quebec City, to name a few.”

Best place for a business lunch?   “The Brasserie T, the Ferreira Café or the Saint-Sulpice. I like to support my clients.”

The perfect aperitif?   “Champagne and foie gras.”

A town that inspires you?   “Menton, a charming little town on the Côte d’Azur, close to the Italian border.”

The trip of your dreams?   “I’d love to travel to the Holy Land. I travel almost exclusively for business. Unfortunately, due my busy schedule, I haven’t yet been able to take this trip which I’ve been dreaming of for many years.”

What do you think distinguishes Quebec from the rest of the world?   “Quebecers are warm, welcoming, and genuine. Our wonderful artists, designers, shops, and restaurants are excellent, but not expensive.”

Designers whose work you admire?   “Patricia Urquiola and Richard Frenier, two extremely innovative furniture designers whose style has been setting them apart for the last fifteen years.”

The ultimate in glamour?   “A penthouse, an evening spent on a rooftop, a private jet; one has to reach for the top.”

The book on your bedside table?   “The bible.”

Your guilty pleasure?   Your guilty pleasure?

For you, the height of luxury is…   “A superb terrace outfitted by Jardin de Ville, of course!”

Your philosohy of life?   “Success comes from passion, courage, and determination. You can accomplish anything if you really want to, and if you work hard enough. Never stop dreaming and always follow your dreams.”
