BUILT IN 1814 IN THE HEART OF ROME, THE HOTEL DE RUSSIE BLENDS HISTORIC SPLENDOUR WITH CONTEMPORARY AMENITIES. SURROUNDED BY A VERITABLE GARDEN OASIS, HOTEL GUESTS HAVE ACCESS TO NUMEROUS OPTIONAL SERVICES, INCLUDING EXCURSIONS THAT COMBINE FITNESS AND CULTURE.
The Hotel de Russie is located between the Spanish Steps and the Piazza del Popolo in the Italian capital. It owes its name to the many members of the Russian Imperial family who used to stay there when in Italy. This luxury establishment has been part of the prestigious Rocco Forte hotel group since 2000. Architect Tommaso Ziffer, working with Olga Polizzi, Director of Design at Rocco Forte, renovated the property by creating an eclectic universe, where modern design and comfort are flawlessly incorporated into the classic architecture of the original building. This gem, considered one of Rome’s most celebrated five-star hotels, exudes a unique atmosphere that melds elegance, well-being and a rich heritage without ostentation. The rooms and suites have been carefully restored over time so that each has a distinct personality that still respects the hotel’s early 19th century ambience. Original works of art and antique furniture abound, and each space is designed to meet a variety of guest needs and tastes. The new Popolo and Picasso suites are the stars of the recently launched “Rocco Forte Suite Experience” program, which offers travellers a unique hotel programming, from their arrival at the airport to their departure. Inspired by Russian dancer and choreographer, Vaslav Nijinsky, the most prestigious and spacious suite in the Hotel de Russie was redesigned to offer its occupants an unparalleled luxury stay in the Eternal City. Set up like a large apartment, this suite includes a series of rooms that can be connected as needed; it also features a kitchen where a private chef can prepare gourmet meals to be taken either in the dining area or on the expansive adjoining terrace. In addition to services like airport transfers, the hotel offers unusual exclusive excursions combining fitness and culture; excursions like a jog or bike ride down the most beautiful streets in Rome accompanied by a personal trainer as they explore various sites and monuments typical of the region.
Any mention of the Hotel de Russie automatically brings to mind its restaurant, Le Jardin de Russie, a sophisticated establishment that evokes the natural colours of the fabulous surrounding garden. During the summer, the restaurant extends into the courtyard set within the enchanted “secret garden.” This terraced oasis of palm trees, an orange grove, hundred-year-old specimens and rose bushes invites guests to linger along its many paths. Finally, a stop at the Stravinskij Bar, and a pamper session at the Wellness Zone are both de rigueur during any stay at this extraordinary property that seems to pave a solid, uninterrupted link between the past and the future.
