ETT HEM – Holm away from home

BUDDHA TO BUDDHA

LOCATED IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBOURHOOD OF STOCKHOLM, ETT HEM IS A SMALL, HIGH-END HOTEL DESIGNED TO FEEL LIKE A FAMILY HOME. STRIVING FOR COMFORT IN BOTH THE GUEST ROOMS AND COMMON AREAS, THE HOTEL WANTS GUESTS TO FEEL AS IF THEY ARE AT HOME IN THE COMPANY OF FRIENDS.

Hidden behind an imposing wooden door, this brick house
in a quiet neighbourhood in the Swedish capital has stood proudly since 1910. Transformed into a charming hotel by Jeanette Mix, the home has preserved its original charm, thanks to the efforts of interior designer, Ilse Crawford. She has artfully accentuated the building’s unique character while adapting it to the needs of its clientele. The antique and modern Scandinavian furniture and accessories she has chosen give the interior an especially elegant atmosphere; it looks as if someone lovingly spent a lot time selecting everything for a private home. In most of the rooms, beautiful ceilings and mouldings are offset by the dark, contrasting colours of the walls. The hotel boasts twelve ultra-comfortable guest rooms in various styles, each one with its own unique warmth.

    Tremblant Living

Guests are free to chat or relax in the living room, which features a flickering fire as soon as the cold weather arrives, before sitting down to savour the excellent dishes served up by the kitchen. The menu is prepared using high-quality local products, chosen according to what is available at the market that day, so each meal is a surprise (and treat!) for the taste buds. A very welcoming touch is that, like at home, one can decide to eat in the kitchen, the dining room, or the lounge. Each of these rooms are decorated with quality natural materials and textiles that create a cosy, yet elegant atmosphere. There is wood everywhere, warmed by linen or wool fabrics. When the days are warmer, the courtyard garden is the ideal place to eat breakfast or linger with a refreshing glass of wine in the evening. In fact, Ett Hem offers a curated selection of champagnes and wines. Another option during meal times is the conservatory, where patrons can enjoy a view of the outside while sitting inside. The hotel restaurant is open to the public and frequently hosts business meals and receptions for special occasions.

Ett Hem truly strives to be thought of as your “home away from home,” so guests are welcome to help themselves to a snack and a drink from the kitchen whenever they like, and peruse the extensive library of books of all genres. You may never want to leave!
