Urbana | The Allure of Fire

Urbana fireplaces showcase the sparkling beauty of fire, bringing the notion of comfort to new heights.

Since its founding in 1989 by Thomas O’Connor, Martin O’Connor, and Cherbel Yousief, Sherwood Industries has constantly pushed the limits of innovation in its industry to meet consumer expectations, initially with wood-burning fireplaces and pellet stoves and, more recently, with gas fireplaces. Located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, the company has been developing innovative products for years that have made it a leading player in heating products.

The Urbana line of gas-fired luxury fireplaces stands out for its cutting-edge design and elegant lines. The manufacturer has done everything in its power to ensure that Urbana fireplaces, a blend of modern and traditional, highlight the beauty of the flame. Whether design connoisseurs opt for a linear, traditional, or bay (which can also be installed as a corner) fireplace, they know the model will feature either double glass and a Whisper Flow fan or a single layer of glass combined with a removable Invisimesh safety screen, for hot surface protection. The InvisiSEAL System seals the interior glass panes to each other for an airtight unit, and even bay fireplaces can be built without steel pillars, using a glass-to-glass construction that offers unobstructed views from any angle. Thanks to the company’s brand-new three-dimensional stainless steel burner system, realistic looking flames rise from a variety of logs or other media, set within an array of firebox liners. Finally, the glow of the flame is enhanced by the adjustable lighting system that can be controlled with the included remote.

Urbana fireplaces may be meticulously built, but they also have the advantage of fitting into all styles of decor. Moreover, since each interior is unique, they can suit any space. Urbana fireplaces can be built into walls of combustible materials such as drywall and panelling, thanks to the Cool Surface System. This system helps channel rising heat within the unit, protecting any paintings, televisions, or other valuable objects mounted over the hearth.

By carefully monitoring every step of production, building a talented team of over 200 dedicated employees and, above all, developing extensive expertise in understanding fire and the techniques to master it, Sherwood Industries has created timeless models that combine design and technology to produce fireplaces offering luxury, calm, and pleasure by the fire.
