The MAREA MADIA buffet by designers Zanellato and Bortotto is from a collection of pieces that use metal as a living, changing material. In a process exclusive to De Castelli, overlapping oxidations are applied to brass, copper and iron, creating a watercolour effect reminiscent of waves lapping on the shore.

Classical forms are reinvented with a contemporary touch, enhanced by the handsewn stitching along the seams. The nod to the lines and proportions of Le Corbusier is clear, while the heat-treated base in stained ash adds a unique touch.
