Joanne Corneau, alias ‘Corno’, from Chicoutimi, is a painter who creates sensual works, and an intimate of the jet set crowd of Montreal and New York.

Unpretentious, despite her huge success, Corno can be proud of her accomplishments. With a degree in Fine Arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal, Corno chose a career as a painter and quickly seduced Montréal through her work. In the late 80s, she was the darling of collectors in Québec and Canada.

In 1992, approaching her forties, Corno decided to take her.

The 2000s saw her reputation elevated to one of the most collected contemporary artists. Her works are now housed permanently in New York, London, Paris, Venice, Monaco, Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul and Dubai. Her international success is a phenomenon. Her unique technique combining bright colors, multidimensional textures, and fascinating subjects, forms a sensuous whole that attracts connoisseurs and amateurs alike.

Today, with the benefit of a deep experience gained from fantastic projects, she is a leading figure in the art world. Current projects include: projection of her work on entire New York City building facades; a dramatic 14 meter wall creation for the Train New York/Paris event; a biography detailing her life in New York, Cornographie, and, of course, the opening of the AKA Gallery in Montréal, representing Corno’s work exclusively. Not bad for a girl from Chicoutimi!

«I don’t know where I’m going, because it’s not me leading, it’s my painting. And because it’s beauty and strenght that please me.»
